Born 1895. Served in companies E and G of the 309th Engineers as a Sergeant, 1917. Completed Officer Training School, 1918. Discharged from the U.S. Army with the rank of 1st Lieutenant, 1919. Commissioned a 1st Lieutenant, Infantry Section, in the Officers Reserve Corps, 1919. Promoted to Major and served in various reserve units one of which was the 344th Infantry, 1920-1941.
